Postgraduate

Postgraduate Research Supervision
I have been supervising PhD and MA by Research students for more than a decade, as well as leading and teaching on taught postgraduate programmes. My approach to supervision is dialogic and supportive. Postgraduate researchers are the future of academia and I believe that supervision is a collaborative rather than didactic process .
My current supervision includes projects on transnational cultural flows in British Taiko drumming; transnational and transmedia narratives in The Witcher; post-millennial teen and coming of age cinema; Native American and First Nation visual and performance artists; and neurodivergent film genre practice.
I am keen to discuss proposals with prospective postgraduate researchers in areas related to film and media, especially in transnational cinema, genre media, global cinemas, media technology and change or more generally about film theory or practice. Please get in touch if you're interested in working with me on a postgraduate research degrees. You can also read more about York St John's PGR School here.
